Love to Love
I would love to love
the idea of loving you
as I gaze into your eyes
which feel so close
but yet are worlds away
your mind springs mine to action
your words bring a warmth
within my soul I had long forgotten
do you believe in destini?
how could two kindren souls
happen into each other's world
at a time when the timing is so
perfect?
Seems every time I question
the idea of love
I find someone willing
to question me
maybe it is all in my head
maybe it is a want to want love
maybe it is just my aching
to love the idea of loving
you
my promise --els 11.24.03
if the night sky were to fade to black
and all of the stars extinguished
I promise you would never feel the lonliness
or the cold from the darkeness
for I have saved that last star for you
and eternaly it shall shine
star dusted sky -els 12.09.03
faerie maiden
on a star dusted sky
Large eyes which pierced
the depths of my soul
playful and fiery
yet, sarcastic and whiley
this woman had it all
Bold purple wings
which fluttered
to the rhythm
of my re-awakened heart
the subdued and serious man
who once was me
became replaced
by a giddie little boy
with a smile of joy
etched across his face
Our paths may never cross
our hands may never touch
for we live on seperate plains
we exist in different worlds
though I long for the day
when I could grab that faerie tight
and dance with her
across the star dusted sky
I find myself the luckiest
man alive
just to be able
to gaze into her eyes
and love loving her
from afar
Earthbound
the butterfly is souring
wings of the most brilliant hues
carry this wonderful creature
to heights unseen
to places unknown
to a world far beyond
me and my earthbound existence
Though she perched upon my finger
a very short while
I enjoyed the time spent together
but nothing this beautiful
can ever be contained
My heart fills with joy
to be able to watch
as she flutters into the future
she will be missed
but I will always be here
if she chooses to return
and join me
here on Earth
together alone --els 12.26.03
High upon the tower
she turned to me
she embraced me
and all sense of falling ceased
Love was nothing
we needed wait for
nothing we needed hope for
nothing we needed fall into
anymore
for it was here
before us
The cool breeze, starry sky
and the two of us
together
alone
she knew as we kissed
that the king and his power
meant nothing
when compared to Love
and I knew
that I would never want anything
as badly as I wanted her
as I wanted to Love her
we both knew we were
no longer falling
no longer feeling
that we were feeling
like we were in Love
We were as deep as two people
could ever possibly be
Love was here
in the warmth of each other's arms
-- for my star els 11.24.03
emerging from the midnite sky
a glimmer of hope
a light to thwart the lonelieness
of this darkened place
I have made my existance
smiling thru the rain
instead of using the drops
to mask the tears which have
taken on a mind of their own
happiness, the most elusive of all
emotions
now shines just out of reach
a beacon calling me
convincing me that now may be the time
to release my heart from
the safety of the chest
it has been locked away
fear of using it and having it become
broken once more
the night I met you in your dream --els 11.2003
thru the window of a dream, you called me
on the whim of the night, I answered
floating before you as you slept
I entered your mind, you smiled
coming becoming --els 01.06.04
Words reach the air
take form
take shape
of what's to come
Destini smiles
with her ideas in the wind
seeing with not my eyes
but my mind
the future in slow motion
better than the ones
I have been going thru
passion
compassion
all within reach
coming becoming
nearer
warmth in my arms
begins
with the sound of my voice
Behind the Words
Snyder's poetry which has seen the light of day usually came across as something like Poe meets Robert Frost; the darker side of nature. Metaphor allows something as common as a bush to depict a much larger meaning. Drawing influence from lyricists, who Snyder believes make up the largest part of modern days most gifted poets, such as Steve Harris, Blackie Lawless, Dave Mustaine and David Pirner, Eric's work ranges from introspective, to historical to deeply political. 'Everyone views the world in a different light', says Snyder, 'So, I use my words, not to change anyone's mind, but to introduce them to another perspective.'
Recent events fueled Snyder's 'Love Poetry' to the point that his words could no longer exist soley on tattered notebook pages or in the hands of the Muse who inspired them. Many began to take on the tragic themes of lovers from other times. The main theme being a love which was so close in heart, yet miles away and variations grew from that. connect --els 12.17.03
falling
further and further everyday
your mind, your eyes, your love
I could never have fathomed the depths
until I found myself
lost in the darkness
and felt the connection
pulling us into an eternal embrace
from the void of loneliness
to the warmth of my arms
connected to one another
a merger of hearts beating in unison
as we continue our spiral
into the depths of love
into the depths of one another
searching, learning. finding
we feel we are making a connection
yet have been ONE from the start
Recycled Soul --els 01.02.04
Away from me
stolen was my sweet love
I tried to carrry on without her
to no awail
I looked into the bathing pool for answers
found none
life carried no purpose
meanless motions
I had gone thru
finally the pact was revealed
the ability to recycle my soul
slingshot thru time and space
on a journey to find you
we had once been lovers
swore a vow of eternal love
eternity is far from over
and this life, many centeries from home
has lead me to you
I searched, finding wrong turns
in the oddest of one way roads
finally I found what I thought to be true
what I thought to be you
it was not, in fact until you appeared to me
calling for help as if from a dream
that I realized I again had chosen wrong
I have found you now,
our souls reunited
our hearts once again whole
Buried Beneath Crossroads --els() 12.31.03
Beneath this rock
upon which I plant my feet
flows the blood of innumerable
cultural traditions
slashed open by the forked tongue
of the scarab's kiss
laying words like gravel
paving cross roads from which
there exists no choice
centuries of ancients
lost their will to stand
their ability to live
and all sense of the peace of mind
needed to make it to the otherside
I kneel on this rock
and run my fingers thru this pain
which is the life of many
who have sacrificed so much
on the writing of so few
and the words attributed to me
I meant not to take
save the burden
I meant to enrich
to create a better life
easier to live
the message became lost
and money saw that transition
turned to annihilation
worlds of truth
lost to power
my tears mix with this blood that flows
all around me
alas the damage has already been done
kiss to the wind --els 12.31.03
a door slams shut behind so much misery
so much struggle, searching too high
hostility now locked away
we can look toward a future of hope
open a new door which leads deeper
lower and warmer
a door which contains the promise of tomorrow
and the knowledge of learning from the falls
I now stand in the doorway
looking out over fields of brightly colored flowers
beneath a star filled sky
I look to a star and blow a kiss to the wind
that kiss contains a wish
I wish for better days
and I blindly allow the star
to play Destini, to decide my Fate
my wish, my heart and my future
belong there now and I have faith
as I leap thru the threshold
a new beginning starts now
